Web Development

  • Design
    • Where php and xhtml serve as a solid basis, Flash can be used to leverage a good project to one that stands out. That's exactally how I implement Flash.
    • Css is used to separate layout from content. I have one year experience in css-design, mainly in a Joomla and Drupal cms environement. While I deliver custom css-solutions, I'm also interested in css-strategies that speed up development, eg. the Zen framework in Drupal, or custom dynamic css solutions written in php .
    • If flash is no option, css and javascript can bring some visual magic in the design. I`ve mainly used the Jquery library as it perfectely suits my design philosophy: "write-less, do-more"
  • CMS
    • Joomla has been my first experience with cms. I don't recommend it unless you desparately need the user interface, which is quite good. Joomla 1.x is not the best solution for SEO. Perhaps Joomla 1.5 does better. I can only recommend Joomla for small projects and only after I've made you considering Drupal.
    • Drupal cms is where my real experience lays Drupal is a very powerfull cms, and extremely versatile and customizable. It just gets the job done, everytime again. I've built several Drupal sites, almost every single one of them multilingual (nl,fr,en,de). I handle every aspect of Drupal, from themeing to site-analysis, cms installation, seo-optimalisation, to integration of custom solutions inside Drupal.
    • As stated above, multilingual (Drupal & Joomla) websites is one of my specialisms.
  • Development
    • Php is an open-source programming language, which is used in popular open-source content management systems like Joomla and Drupal and many others. I use php and I'm working on evolving from php basic skills towards more advanced skills. I'm strongly interested in Object-oriented programming (Drupal is written in object oriented php) I'm not a developper, I'm just a designer who happens to have tumbled down the programming rabbit-hole. And the end is nowhere near.
    • Apache another open-source solution, for server software is used for many open-source CMS. Together with php and mysql database software we've got a winning trio, for dynamic websites.
    • I use common tools like Dreamweaver and Eclipse as editors, and I'm also experimenting with Zend-debugging for Drupal.
